Tete Gewo, Megalith site in Tete Gewo Village, South Nias

Nias island is a home for living megalith site. Line of stone artifact from the ancient time can easily be found in Nias Island, including South Nias district. Lets visit Megalith site Tetegewo in Tetegewo village, Sidua Ori sub district. It is located on the top of mountain, we can see roof of houses, trees becomes so small, the river looks like swirling giant snake.

Then see, something more beautiful than that, a human creation, the megalith artifacts spread along the top mountain field. Menhir, up large standing stone with a circle ornament and sword shape below it, stands firm, on the center, right side of field from entrance gate. There is a square stone that shaped a very small room, it was used as prison in ancient time. Tons of medium round stone table line up from the entrance gate. This stone is a place for dancing performance. Each stone produces different tone, such a music instrument.

Tetegewo village can be accessed from Teluk Dalam by land route. Visitors can use both car and motorcycle. It takes about one and half hour. Then continue on foot to the hill top for 200 meters far. We can find the head village office, at the road side, just in front of T junction into the hill road. Visitors can fill the guest book in this office and find local people who can accompany us to the megalith site, then tell us the story of this site.

Beside visiting the megalith site, visitor can also visit a hidden water fall, it is not too far from the megalith site location.
